1. Best Time to Visit Thailand

Thailand has a tropical climate, which means it’s generally warm year-round. However, the best time to visit is between November and February, when the weather is cooler and dry. This is also the peak tourist season, so it’s wise to book your flights and hotels early.

If you’re looking to save money and avoid the crowds, the shoulder season from March to May can also be a good option—just be ready for higher temperatures.

2. Visa and Entry Requirements

Indian passport holders can apply for a visa on arrival in Thailand, which is valid for 15 days. You’ll need to show a return ticket, proof of accommodation, and some financial proof (like cash or card showing sufficient balance). For longer stays, you can apply for a tourist visa in advance from the Thai consulate.

Make sure your passport is valid for at least six months from your date of entry.

3. Currency and Budgeting

The local currency is the Thai Baht (THB). ATMs are widely available, but having some local cash in hand is always helpful—especially in rural areas and markets.

Thailand is budget-friendly for Indian travelers. You can enjoy a full day of sightseeing, local food, and transport for a modest price. Street food is not only delicious but also super affordable.

4. Getting Around

Public transport in Thailand is reliable and cheap. Tuk-tuks, motorbike taxis, and local buses are common in cities. For long distances, trains and buses are great, and domestic flights can save time when traveling between cities like Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Phuket.

If you’re heading to an island in Thailand, ferries and speedboats are often used to hop between locations like Phi Phi, Koh Samui, and Krabi.

5. What to Wear and Pack

Light cotton clothes are best due to the warm and humid climate. If you plan on visiting temples, carry a scarf or wear clothes that cover your shoulders and knees out of respect. Flip-flops or sandals are great for beaches, but bring comfy shoes for city exploration.

Don’t forget sunscreen, mosquito repellent, and reusable water bottles to stay hydrated while you’re out and about.

6. Respect Local Culture

Thai people are known for being kind and respectful, and it’s important to return the same courtesy. A few things to keep in mind:

Avoid touching anyone’s head (it’s considered sacred).

  • Don’t point your feet at people or religious statues.

  • Always greet with a smile, and learn a few Thai phrases like “Sawasdee” (hello) and “Khop Khun” (thank you).

Final Thoughts

Whether you’re planning a luxurious beach holiday or a backpacking journey, Thailand has something for everyone. With the right planning and an open mind, you’ll find that it’s one of the most welcoming and enjoyable destinations in Asia.

So if you’re gearing up for a Thailand trip from Bangalore or just looking to explore a peaceful island in Thailand, keep these Thailand travel tips in mind—and get ready for an adventure filled with beautiful landscapes, delicious food, and unforgettable memories.
